Have you ever done one of those things in your life that all you can say is "I can't believe that just happened"? Well I had one of those moments last week. Here it goes...
My inlaws were in the city and offered to look after our little guy so we could have a date night - awesome right? So...I surprised my husband and took him to this locally owned gourmet burger diner - it was fabulous - and my husband adores burgers - so it was the perfect place. We then walked a few blocks to a famous (in this city anyways) dessert location - had the best cheesecake ever - again - another of my husbands favorites. While we are enjoying and savouring the tastes of cheesecake - I get a text from one of my besties from Edmonton - "the wedding is TONIGHT!" Not only did she text this, but she sent a picture of all of our friends sitting at a beautifully arranged table - with TWO empty seats!!!
I cried, felt sick, couldn't eat anymore....
Cried some more...
Couldn't talk on the phone when she called me a few minutes later....
DH didn't know what to do with me in the middle of a restaurant....
I said to myself "I can't believe that just happend".....
We missed our good friends wedding....
I planned everything for the weekend after....
We were going to travel to Edmonton and have a great weekend...
I clearly didn't read the invitation properly...
I even had it in my daytimer on my phone to be on the 31st...
I cried some more...
I have NEVER felt so sick and sorry about a mistake that I had made....
I know what it's like when people say they are coming to your wedding and then don't show up - had this happen to us...
I can at least say I was planning on coming to their wedding....their wedding on the 31st that is...
So in my stupidity - I cried some more...
I finally got to talk with the lovely couple the other day - and I really didn't have the words to say how sorry I was for missing their beautiful special day.
I hope that we get to see them soon - even if it means flying to Arizona for a weekend of visiting.
To Dear Dawna and Jason - we wish you all the best - you both are amazing!

So....here is the card I had made them for the wedding....I had to change the number on the front as I had the dates wrong...clearly....
A closer look....
The inside - a little pocket for the gift card we got them...
I'm still coming to terms on how this even happened - what was I thinking?
So for a little tip to everyone out there....READ the dates properly, WRITE the dates in many, many places, and DON'T FORGET these important dates - you will be saddened if you miss out!

Oh Jody, you must feel terrible! See what happens when you leave us, here in Edmonton! Your card is beautiful, though!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Try not to be so hard on yourself, I'm sure your friends understand. Can happen to anyone.
