Scrap & Play Challenge #11 - Sketch Time!

You all know how I love a good sketch to get my mojo going...and this was no different!  I enjoy changing things up a bit...putting a heart where a star may go or having one photo instead of where 3 may go...this was the case here!  Tammi provided this wonderful and inspiring sketch....

And this was my take on it....

I used one photo in the middle, making it black and white as there were so many colors involved in the pieces and elements that I choose.  I layered, layered and layered as much as I could and then did a bit of stitching and ink splats (yes that's the term :)) So far this could be one of my favourite layouts that I have created so far!

Scrap & Play Challenge #9 - Be Awesome Today and Everyday!

Good morning everyone!  It's already a beautiful day outside - fall is coming and the air feels so fresh!
But on to the Scrap & Play Challenge #9.  It's all about school supplies as it's the first of September and school is about to start!

Here is the challenge....

And here is my layout....

I used some old American Crafts but I absolutely loved it...that's why it's been in my stash for so long!!! Some of the frames are from Crate and then there are some odds and ends from Elle Studio, October Afternoon, Maya Road, My Mind's Eye and Studio Calico.

Link up your layouts or projects here for a chance to win an awesome prize from Paper Bakery!

Cardabilities Sketch #102 Reveal!

I really enjoyed this card sketch as it made me want to do something different than flowers!  I love flowers, but I really wanted to add something made of vellum - so I picked butterflies of course!!!

Here is the great sketch by Karan Gerber....

And here is my take...

I created the background using some gesso and Maya Mists.  I cut out the three layer shapes using my Cameo and then added some vellum butterflies that I punched out using my Martha Stewart punches.  The small banner/stitched piece is from Crate Paper.  Have I said how much I love gold lately???  Well that gold sentiment is from the Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper line - I just notched out each end to make it look like a small banner!  Again - with the gold - I dipped a mist lid into some gold Heidi Swap color shine and used it to create some of the small circles on the background - I love how it turned out!

Make sure to link up your projects over at Cardabilities blog - you may just be chosen to be featured!
