Cardabilities Sketch #102 Reveal!

I really enjoyed this card sketch as it made me want to do something different than flowers!  I love flowers, but I really wanted to add something made of vellum - so I picked butterflies of course!!!

Here is the great sketch by Karan Gerber....

And here is my take...

I created the background using some gesso and Maya Mists.  I cut out the three layer shapes using my Cameo and then added some vellum butterflies that I punched out using my Martha Stewart punches.  The small banner/stitched piece is from Crate Paper.  Have I said how much I love gold lately???  Well that gold sentiment is from the Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper line - I just notched out each end to make it look like a small banner!  Again - with the gold - I dipped a mist lid into some gold Heidi Swap color shine and used it to create some of the small circles on the background - I love how it turned out!

Cardabilities Sketch #101 Reveal

For this wonderful sketch, I decided to create a tag instead of a card.  I usually add these to gift bags instead of including a card.  Sometimes I write a few shorts notes to the special friend on the back and use it just like a card.

Here is the sketch...

And here is my take...

I created the background by distressing a cream colored tag using Tim Holtz Distress inks.  I stamped the image on the background using brown Staz On and then flicked some water droplets on it.  I used the cap to one of my mists to create the small circles, dipping it in Heidi Swapp Color Shine (my fav for sure!).  I used a few pieces of patterned paper from my scraps and then some October Afternoon wood frame and chipboard.  The frame sits quite high as I used clear pop dots on each corner.  This allows the chipboard pieces to fit under it without issue.

It's nice to change it up once in a while from just cards.  The sketches can be used for all kinds of projects not only tags and cards!  Make sure to link up your card or tag over at the Cardabilities blog for your chance to be featured!

Cardabilities Sketch #100 Reveal!

This sketch really was challenging for me!  I always enjoy little envelopes and pockets to put gift cards, etc within it, however a whole envelope on the front???!!!  Yup - and I love how it turned out!  Here is the awesome sketch....

And here is my take on it....

I embossed the Maya Road envelope with the Maggie Holmes Crate Paper doily embossing folder and then lightly inked it with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  I then found some really old Tattered Angel gold glaze and went over the embossed images with a paintbrush to make them shiny and a bit two-toned in color.  I added some stitching (of course!) and two Tim Holtz gears in place of the original round thingys (don't know what they are called)  :)  so that you can open and close the envelope.  The leaves were cut with my Cameo using some Basic Grey paper.  I love how it turned out and hope someone special will too!  The saying is from Pickled Potpourri Designs which is our sponsor for this reveal!
