Scrap & Play Challenge #11 - Sketch Time!

You all know how I love a good sketch to get my mojo going...and this was no different!  I enjoy changing things up a bit...putting a heart where a star may go or having one photo instead of where 3 may go...this was the case here!  Tammi provided this wonderful and inspiring sketch....

And this was my take on it....

I used one photo in the middle, making it black and white as there were so many colors involved in the pieces and elements that I choose.  I layered, layered and layered as much as I could and then did a bit of stitching and ink splats (yes that's the term :)) So far this could be one of my favourite layouts that I have created so far!

Scrap & Play Challenge #10

Lists....I'm a list person for sure.  No question.  Which is why this Lo Challenge was perfect!  It was all about the top 10 list of anything you choose!

So, since Little Mr. S turned 5 recently, I thought it was fitting to list his top 10 things that are his favorite at this time!  Here is my take on the challenge....

I used some Bella Blvd paper, stickers and pieces from the candid pack.  I also added some miscellaneous items that I thought matched up well.  This picture is his 5 year picture that I took of him this summer near a path close to our home.  He is such a character therefore I only caught a few good ones of him!

Here is the challenge....

And here is my layout....

I used some old American Crafts but I absolutely loved it...that's why it's been in my stash for so long!!! Some of the frames are from Crate and then there are some odds and ends from Elle Studio, October Afternoon, Maya Road, My Mind's Eye and Studio Calico.

Scrap & Play Challenge #8

The new challenge at Scrap and Play is all about your four-legged friend.  This was such a wonderful challenge for me as it was one year almost to the date that we put this awesome fella down.  He was a part of our family for 10 years - he brought us so much joy, stress, love, frustration and laughs.  We miss him dearly and we still struggle not to cry when we think of him.   He is truly missed....

Here is my take....love this guy...RIP Bauer....

Please play along with us using your photos of any four-legged animal that is or was in your life.  Link up your projects for your chance to win a $20.00 gift card from Paper Issues - our fabulous sponsor!

Happy scrapping!

Scrap & Play Challenge #7 Reveal

I have had such a great time playing around with some mixed media products that I decided to use it for some cards using this mood board for Scrap & Play Challenge #7.  I loved that ocean view and the variations of the blues that I wanted to mimic it in my cards....here is the challenge...

And here are my cards...

I used some modelling paste and a Tim Holtz stencil to create the background of the lines...it's hard to tell but they are raised and have a thick texture to them.  After it dried, I painted over it using a blue and turquoise glimmer mist from Tattered Angels.  I also used a few stamps here and there to add to the dimension.   Make sure to link up your projects based on the mood board for your chance to win a prize package from Paper Issues!  Have fun creating and crafting!

Scrap & Play Challenge #5 Reveal!

Here is a great sketch over at Scrap & Play for challenge #5!  You also need to use pieces on your layout that begin with each letter for the world SPLASH - such a great take on a challenge!

Here is the sketch....

And here is my take...

S - snowflakes
P - patterned paper
L - layers
A - alcohol inks
S - sequins, stars
H - heart flair

I know that it's the middle of the summer but I really wanted to scrap these fun winter photos that I had lying around.  I used some Crate Paper from their Christmas line, a few acrylic snowflakes that I inked with alcohol ink, Heidi Swapp and Tim Holtz stencils with Distress Ink and Color Box ink.  It was super fun to create that background - looking forward to doing more for sure!!

Scrap & Play Challenge #4

There is another great challenge over at Scrap & Play - Scraplift this awesome LO by Fancy Pants DT member, Anna Kossakovskaya!  She did such a great job with this Fancy Pants line - it just screams summer!!!  Here is her LO...

And here is my take on it....

I really like how she used a boarder across the top and that cute banner of pendants.  I chose to sew a few small circles together for my banner instead of using the same triangles that Anna did.  I added the tag on the top of my photos instead of at the side and used the banner stickers to the left of my photo instead of the bottom.  Anna's LO was very inspiring for me - I hope you enjoy it and play along!

Scrap & Play Challenge #3!

I've always loved playing Bingo - evan as an adult we play every once in a while at my mom's with the kids - she has this bag full of goodies and always makes sure all the grandkids win at least one prize of their choice :)  So when this challenge came up at Scrap & Play - it reminded me so much playing with my family!!!

For the challenge, you need to pick a line in any direction and create a project using all the items listed in that row!  Really - you could have a black out and use all the items if you are up to it ;)

Here is the challenge...

And here is my layout using the middle line across...floral patterned paper, enamel dots and Fancy Pants Design products.  I was sad that my Fancy Pants box of goodies didn't ship in time for me to use on this challenge (Canadian boarder always holds things up!), so I used the On Trend line that was released last year.  I love the colors and really had yet to put it to good use on any type of project!  I was so happy to finally play with it here!

Make sure to head on over to the Scrap & Play blog and link up your projects using Challenge #3 for your chance to win a fabulous prize from Fancy Pants Designs!

P.S. - when I finally got my goodies - Canada post put a big hole right through everything - every single piece of paper was damaged!  I've come to terms with it however as everything is still useable and awesome as ever!  Can't wait to play around with it and create my next project for Scrap & Play!
